About Toast Trader
Toast Trader is a small liquor retailer with a deliberately short shelf. We carry four bottles: a twelve-year blended scotch, a Jamaican gold rum, a Cotes du Rhone and a Chianti Classico. That is the whole range. We would rather keep four things in stock that we can describe honestly than list four hundred we have never opened.
The idea behind the shop is ordinary evenings. Most bottles in the United States are not bought for weddings or anniversaries. They are bought on a Thursday, after work, because the week was long and there is pasta on the stove or a friend coming by. That kind of buying deserves a plain price and a plain description, not a membership tier, a points balance or a story about a cellar in the hills.
How we choose what we carry
Every bottle on this site has to answer three questions. First, does it have a job? A blended scotch that works both neat and in a highball does a job. A rum that carries ginger beer and lime does a job. A red with enough acidity for tomato sauce does a job. Second, can we describe it without adjectives we cannot stand behind? We list origin, ABV, volume, the price and the way we actually pour it. Third, is the price one we would pay ourselves on a normal week?
We do not claim a scoring system, a panel of judges or a curriculum of certifications. We do not have them. What we have is a shelf, a price list and the willingness to say when a bottle is simply fine rather than remarkable.
Plain pricing
Prices on Toast Trader are shown in US dollars and are the price of the bottle, before any sales tax that your state or locality applies at checkout. There are no membership prices, no bundle games and no crossed-out number invented to make a discount look larger. If a price changes, the change shows up on the product page; there is no separate insider rate.
Bottle sizes are listed because they change the maths. A 700 ml rum and a 750 ml scotch are not the same quantity, and a 1 liter bottle is not automatically better value than a 750 ml one. We write the volume on every listing so you can do the division yourself.
What we do not do
We do not sell to anyone under 21, we do not ship to states where direct delivery of alcohol to a consumer is not permitted, and we do not leave a box of spirits on a porch for anyone to pick up. Orders require an adult signature at delivery, and the person signing must be 21 or older with valid identification.

Ordering, delivery and returns
Orders are packed by hand and shipped by a carrier that requires an adult signature. We ship to the states listed on our shipping restrictions page and nowhere else; the list is short, and we would rather be clear than take an order we cannot legally fulfil. Deliveries generally arrive within a few business days once the parcel leaves us, though carrier delays are outside our control. If a bottle arrives cracked, leaking or obviously mistreated in transit, tell us within a reasonable window and we will sort out a replacement or a refund.
Because alcohol is regulated separately in every state, our shipping policy, return policy and age verification policy are all short and all specific. Please read them before ordering. If something in them is unclear, write to us and we will try to answer in plain language rather than pointing at a paragraph.
