Age verification policy

You must be 21 or older to buy alcohol from Toast Trader. That applies to the person placing the order and to the person who receives it. Verification happens twice: once when you confirm your age at the entrance to this site, and again when a carrier hands over the box.

At checkout

You confirm your date of birth and that the delivery address is a private residence or another place where an adult can sign. Some orders are checked against public records or an identity-verification service. If we cannot confirm that the buyer is 21 or older, the order is cancelled and the authorisation on the payment method is released.

At the door

Carriers delivering alcohol must obtain the signature of someone 21 or older and may ask for photo identification showing a date of birth. A signature from an underage person, or a parcel left without a signature, would put our permit and the carrier’s at risk, so carriers refuse rather than guess. If nobody eligible is home, the parcel returns to us; we will contact you about a reshipment, and the original shipping charge is not refunded in that case.

What we cannot do

We cannot accept a note on the door, a neighbour signing on your behalf, a delivery to a parcel locker, or an instruction to leave the box in a porch or garage. We cannot sell to anyone under 21 under any circumstances, including as a gift, and we cannot accept an order where the recipient is a minor.

If a delivery is refused

Identification that is expired, damaged or does not match the name on the order can lead to a refusal at the door. Write to us with the order number and we will explain the options; repeated failed attempts may lead us to decline future orders to the same address.
