Shipping Policy
How Toast Trader ships
Every order leaves our packing bench as a box of glass, and we pack accordingly. Bottles travel upright in a moulded pulp insert with foam corners around the shoulders, and the space above the necks is filled so nothing shifts in transit. Wine and spirits share a box only when the sizes allow a snug fit; otherwise we split the shipment rather than let two heavy bottles knock against each other for a thousand miles.
Where we ship
We ship within the United States only, and only to states where direct delivery of alcohol to a consumer is permitted. The current list lives on our shipping restrictions page. If your state is not on it, the checkout will not complete and we cannot make an exception by email. Some states also cap the volume a single household may receive in a period; where that applies, the limit is enforced before payment.
Carriers, timing and signatures
Orders are handed to a carrier that provides adult-signature delivery. Someone 21 or older must be present with photo identification. Carriers usually attempt delivery on business days and leave a notice if nobody is home; after the permitted attempts the parcel comes back to us and we contact you about a reshipment. Transit normally takes three to five business days after dispatch, though weather, holiday volume and rural routes add days. We cannot promise a precise delivery hour.
Cost
Shipping is priced by the actual weight of the parcel, the number of boxes and the destination zone, and the figure appears at checkout before you pay. Because two bottles weigh only a little more than one, adding a second bottle to a single-bottle order often costs very little extra; this is the one place where a larger order is genuinely cheaper per bottle. Sales tax is charged separately from the shipping fee.
If something goes wrong
Report a leaking, cracked or missing bottle within a few days of the delivery scan. Keep the packaging and take a photograph if you can; it supports the carrier claim and speeds up the replacement. Heat and hard frost both damage wine, so we avoid shipping into extreme weather when a delay looks likely, and we may hold an order rather than send it into a heat wave.
